The story of Ogle Brothers General Store begins long before the doors opened. It’s a story woven into the soil of East Tennessee itself. The Ogle family’s connection to the land the store sits on dates back to 1925, when Dr. John W. Ogle and his wife Blanche purchased what would become known as the beloved Five Oaks farm.

For nearly a century, generations of Ogles have lived, worked, and built their lives there They raised Tennessee Walking Horses, farmed the land, and opened their hearts to neighbors and travelers who passed through. The Ogle family’s story is a reflection of true Appalachian values, hard work, hospitality, and pride in the place they call home.

In November 2019, ninth-generation brothers Jake and Taylor Ogle brought that heritage full circle when they opened Ogle Brothers General Store. Their goal was to create more than just a shop, they wanted a space that celebrated their family’s history and the traditions of the Smoky Mountains.
